French ceiling / Barrisol

What is a French ceiling (Barrisol)

French, or Barrisol, is a stretch ceiling fixed onto a perimeter profile and tensioned. A perfectly even surface in one day, with no dust or messy renovation.

It is called “French” because the technology comes from France, and “Barrisol” comes from the French brand Barrisol — the word became a common term for stretch ceilings. In essence it is a thin membrane (PVC or fabric) fixed into a bead around the room and tensioned into a seamless surface.

01

Water protection

In a flood 1 m² of membrane holds up to 100–120 l of water — it just sags and returns to shape after draining.

02

One-day install

A standard room takes 3–4 hours, no dust, no need to move furniture out.

03

Only 3–5 cm lost

The membrane sits close to the base ceiling — you barely lose room height.

04

100+ colours & finishes

Matte, glossy, satin and designer options for any interior.

Finishes to choose from

Most popular are matte (like perfect paint), glossy (mirrors and lifts the ceiling) and satin (soft pearl). For premium interiors — Swarovski starry sky and photo printing.

Where it is used

Flats and houses, bathrooms and kitchens (the membrane is moisture-proof), offices, cafes and showrooms. A French ceiling does not crack, flake or collect dust.

Frequently asked

Is a stretch ceiling flammable?

Certified membranes are flame-retardant and do not support combustion. We work only with certified materials.

Does it really hold water?

Yes. In a leak the membrane stretches and holds the water; after careful draining it returns to shape.

How much height is lost?

Usually 3–5 cm from the base slab, a little more if you hide services or recess lighting.

Price and warranty?

Basic install from 25 ₾/m²; the calculator or a free measurement gives the exact figure. 10-year warranty on the membrane.
